Information

As you complete inductions for the areas or equipment you will be using, technical staff or tutors will update your booking permissions.

Suspensions

If your account has been suspended, please contact any of our technical service areas who will be able to explain why a suspension has occurred.

Suspensions may be applied automatically when equipment is late for return. Your existing bookings are not cancelled, but may no longer be honoured. You will not be able to make new bookings until the issue has been resolved.

Policies

Terms and Conditions

By making a booking you are agreeing to our Bookings and Loans Policy and any applicable terms which may be shown during the booking process. Please take a few moments to read the policies. Breaking the terms may result in suspension from our bookings and loans service, and potential fines for lost or damaged equipment.

Insurance and Public Liability

Locations may require you to show your risk assessments and our public liability insurance certificate. Your activities are only covered by the University's public liability insurance whilst completing approved coursework.

This does not insure equipment. We recommend that you take out your own insurance.

Risk Assessments

Many projects will require you to complete risk assessments for each task or location.

You should read and reference the relevant School Risk Assessments when writing your own, which you submit to your module leader for approval.

Numerous common hazards already have safe methods of working devised. Following these will help keep people safe and save you some time.

Fines

If equipment is lost or damaged, or under other specific circumstances, a financial penalty may need to be paid. These can be made to the University of Salford eShop, or with contactless at the Equipment Store.
